Rothwell - Help us to tell it's story

In order to document the history of our town as fully as possible, we need your help. The Centre already has a large photo archive and many records of the town's past, but there is so much more we don't know.

To give some examples of how you might be able to help us:

  • Maybe in your collection of family snapshots you have photos taken in the town, of townsfolk or events and special occasions – they could be the only remaining record of these things.
  • Do you have school class photos which we don't already have?
  • Thanks for the memories - stories you can tell or your parents or grandparents told you? If we don't get them recorded, they will be gone forever, and lost to future generations. We need people to tell us about things like the shops, the factories, the clubs and pubs, parades, events, schools, churches, chapels and so on.

We need to record for future reference what it was like to live and work in Rothwell in the 20th century. Before cars and computers became commonplace, how did people get about, and what did children do for fun in the evenings, at the weekends or in the school holidays?

If you have things you think we would be interested in, please do get in touch.

The story of Rothwell and it's heritage

belongs to us all.

Please help us to tell that story.
