Marilyn Harrison - "In To Abstraction"

After My abstract paintings are spontaneous applications of colour on canvas. I am interested in the different effects achieved working in oils, acrylics and enamels, to create movement and texture. My work is inspired by the paint itself, and I am greatly influenced by Gerhard Richter.

I enjoy travelling, taking photos of the beautiful places I see, and incorporate the colours and moods into my abstract paintings. Last year I visited Alaska, South Africa, Paris and Florence.

My photography explores texture and light found in nature. My latest series of photos show the abstract textures of various tree barks, which have translated into paintings.
