John Wheatcroft McGain has always loved watercolour paintings, and has painted in this medium for many years, reading avidly anything he could lay his hands on relating to this type of painting, especially articles and books written by Edward Wesson and Rowland Hilder ect............
John spent several years in Paris living amongst a bohemian group of artists and film makers and sought to become more adventurous in his painting style.

Moving into more abstract painting he found great satisfaction here, painting in a wide variety of styles, combining different media with unusual effects.
