John Wheatcroft McGain has always loved watercolour paintings, and has painted in this medium for many years, reading avidly anything he could lay his hands on relating to this type of painting, especially articles and books written by Edward Wesson and Rowland Hilder ect............
John spent several years
in Paris living amongst a bohemian group of artists and film makers
and sought to become more adventurous in his painting style.
Moving into more abstract painting
he found great satisfaction here, painting in a wide variety of styles,
combining different media with unusual effects.

A pharmacist by proffession, his love of mixing and combining unusual
textures and media combinations has produced a range of abstract
motifs which John could rightly call his own, and are truly unique.
Having had numerous successful solo exhibitions both through Northamptonshire
and on the South Coast, John continues to surprise and delight many
art collectors, who have become regular customers for his intriging
work.
John continues to paint
watercolour, traditional and contemporary paintings together with
some very abstract work in vibrant acrylic paint, suitable for both
domestic and commercial use, and receives many commissions.
